Home Cure Nail Fungus
Here are some home remedies that people have used that seem to work well for most with nail fungus. We tested a list of 15 home remedies with seniors in nursing homes and have developed a list of what actually worked. Keep in mind most of these have no medical data to back them up, we used real people and conducted our own testing for most of these nail fungus home remedies.
I hope this list will help you choose a nail fungus remedy that will work for you. Note before using any of there home remedies you should ask you doctor first.
- Vicks Vapor Rub - This was the most talked about home cure for nail fungus we found so we put it to the test. You apply the Vicks Vapor Rub on the toenail fungus everynight and wear cotton socks to bed for 5 months before you can see difference. Although there were some signs of improvement the toe nails were no longer yellow but went dark off the start. The fungus could still be seen through the nail on one out of 3 people tested. It does seem to work for some people but not all.
- Vinegar Water Mixture - White vinegar has shown that it can
inhibit the growth of certain bacteria but there are no clinical studies showing it can cure nail fungus. We were told to soak your
feet in a pale with 1.5L of warm water adding 500 mL of Vinegar, let soak for at least 15 to 20 minutes. One complete rinse your feet off in cool water then pat dry your feet. Try to do this at least once a day unless your skin becomes
irritated. Our test subjects show positive results with the nails turning back to white only after 3 months. We concluded that this method may completely kill toe nail fungus if done longer but we could only conduct the test for three months.
- Switch Your Socks - Most of the older generation wear nylon socks which is why we notice more nail fungus with seniors. Switch to cotton socks and let the feet breath also when you can remove your socks this will help keep your feet dry and prevent nail fungus from finding a home in your dark damp toenails.
- Rubbing Alcohol - This method is easily done with a cotton swab. Soak the affected nails in rubbing alcohol for about 20 minutes twice daily. Your will notice that it will dry you skin and toenails but this seems to be the key to it's success. Do this at least twice a day if you can. Some people choose to use mouth wash as it has alcohol in it and it doesn't seem to dry the skin as much.
- Tea Tree Oil - This is a popular home cure for nail fungus. Tea tree oil is a natural and
powerful fungicide and antiseptic and is found in many of the nail fungus products on the market today. Apply the tree tea oil with a cotton ball then massage it in the nail and the surrounding area gently with your fingers. We did this twice a day for 4 months and had very positive results. most of the fungus was gone at the end of 4 months.
Using a proven nail fungus product like Claripro or Zetaclear will ensure your success and save you time and effort as these nail fungus remedies are easy to apply.
