Causes Of Nail Fungus
 Nail Fungus is actually Fungi, these are microscopic organisms that live in moist and dark places. Research have proven
that great majority of nail fungal infections are caused by a group of
fungi called dermatophytes. Yeasts and molds can also be responsible for
nail fungal infections. You may get affected by toe nail fungus if you feet are in damp areas such as public
gyms, shower stalls or swimming pools.
Typically if you wear shoes allot or tight-fitting
shoes or boots and you feet sweat allot then you are at great risk of toe nail fungus.
Other causes of nail fungus include, putting wet damp feet into socks before they are fully dry, higher then normal pH level in the skin, and a poor immune system.
Fungus porse invade skin through a small separation between your nail and nail bed. The reason toenail fungus is more common then fingernail fungus is because the
toenails are often covered and in a dark, warm, moist environment inside
the shoes or boots and the finger are not.
Other causes of nail fungus include:
- AIDS, Diabetes, circulation issues and a weak immune system
- Trama to the finger tip or toe tips (Stubbing you toe) creating a seperation of the toe bed and the nail
- Sweating allot
- Slow growing nails
- Continuiously wearing boots/shoes
- Poor blood circulation
- Genetics
Symptoms Of Nail Fungus
You can tell if youhave a nail fungus if you toe nail becomes more yellow and it looks like there is something under the toe nail. See the picture above. As you can see the nail fungus has grown under the toe nail starting from the tip and has started to work its way furthure down the toe nail. The nail will become thicker and very yellow and will become brittle and rough or ragged on the edges. There can also be an odour that cancome from the nail as the debris under the nail becomes older.
If not treated the nail fungus can cause permanent damage to the nail leaving it distorted looking and very unatractive.
